Birgit is a General Surgeon with overseas experience in the UK and Ireland. Born in Holland, she did most of her surgical training in Christchurch. Birgit is experienced in both open and laparoscopic hernia repairs.
Grant trained in Christchurch then spent time working in Norwich, London and Melbourne. He was amongst the first NZ surgeons to use keyhole surgery for hernias and other procedures. It is now the gold standard.
John is a specialist general, breast and vascular surgeon. Trained in NZ, Australia, England and the US, he is a keyhole surgery expert for gallbladders and hernias. He is an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and has taught students, house surgeons and registrars.
Malcom is a specialist general, breast and vascular surgeon, and is a director of Laservein. He trained in Christchurch, with further post-graduate training in the United Kingdom and Australia. He is experienced in keyhole and open hernia repair.
Philippa has been in private practice since 1994 and is a founding partner in Canterbury Breastcare. She has also worked in the UK, Ireland and USA. She has also been a specialist General Surgeon at Christchurch Hospital since 1993.
Richard trained in Christchurch, then in Boston (Harvard Fellow in Minimally Invasive Surgery) and New York (Surgical Oncology Fellow). He also works at Christchurch Hospital (Consultant General Surgeon), Christchurch School of Medicine (Senior Lecturer) & Christchurch Weight Loss Surgery.
Rob is a Specialist General Surgeon with a busy public and private practice. Rob has trained in Christchurch, Aust, the UK and USA and introduced keyhole surgery to Christchurch. He is one of Christchurch’s leading hernia surgeons.
Steven is a General Surgeon with specialist training in NZ and the UK at Cambridge, Edinburgh and Taunton. His special interest is the full range of the surgical management of hernias. He performs keyhole and open hernia repair including complex hernias.
Southern Cross: Gallstone Clinic has contracts with Southern Cross Hospital in Christchurch. It is one of the largest and most advanced surgical hospitals in the South Island and is the biggest within the Southern Cross national network.
Centrally located on Bealey Avenue, the hospital has undergone significant recent upgrades and the addition of new facilities since the earthquakes.

St George’s: Gallstone Clinic has a contract with St George’s Hospital in Christchurch. St George’s was ranked in the top 1% of hospital units in Australasia.
